First Outing for Scoil Bhríde’s Soccer Team

On Tuesday, the 21st of March, the Scoil Bhríde Cailíní Soccer Team took part in the FAI 5-a-side soccer blitz in Malahide.

The team comprised of girls from 4th, 5th and 6th Classes: Holly, Julia, Molly, Shannon, Sifa, Erin, Crystal, Buky and Leen. They had been training hard for the past few weeks in preparation for this blitz.

The first match was a local derby, against Scoil Thomáis. Although the girls had endless shots on goal, the ball just simply would not go into the net. They were extremely unlucky to lose 2-0.

However, our luck would change in the second match against Holywell ETNS, where the girls couldn’t stop scoring! Scoil Bhríde eventually ran out 6-1 winners and the result was thoroughly deserved after all their hard work.

Our final match was against a very strong St. Marnock’s side. The girls kept running, tackling and shooting until the end but it wasn’t meant to be this time.

All nine girls can be extremely proud of how they played during the blitz and hopefully we will have more matches for the soccer team to look forward to in the future!
