Suggested Activities 11th-15th May

Hi girls! We hope that you and your families are all keeping well. As we all know, some of us should have been making your communion next week. We would like you to dress up and send a photo of yourself to us.  If you haven’t sent your photo, please do so by Tuesday 12th of May to photos@scoilbhridecailini.ie. Please make sure your child’s name and teachers name is in the subject line! There will be a little surprise on our website on Friday!

This month is the month of Mary. Practice the ‘Hail Mary’. Make a May altar in your house. You could draw a picture of Mary and leave some flowers. Anytime you visit this special place, you could say the Hail Mary.

At the moment lots of our favourite places are closed like the swimming pool, our school and the shopping centre.  

  

  • Discuss with your family what you would like to do when things get back to normal. Where will be the first place you would like to go? Who do you miss seeing?

  

  • Speak in English and in your own home language when making plans. I look forward to hearing them!  

  

  • Draw a map of all the places you can go near your house. Draw in where you can go for a walk and other places which you miss going to.

  

  • You can send pictures of your work to photos@scoilbhridecailini.ie. Please include your child’s name, her teacher’s name and whether you’re happy for us to share the picture on our website.

 Do a little bit of reading every day if you can. Read to your little/big brother or sister.  

Play ‘schools’ and take turns being ‘teacher’. Use the words  in your folders. 

Write some words on pieces of paper and play the word game that you play in a small group in class.

SEESAW 

If you have signed up for SEESAW, you could practise a page of reading and then record yourself reading and post it on SEESAW. We would love to hear you reading. 

Practise counting forwards and backwards. 

Start at  19. Count to 31. Count back from 31 to 19. 

Start at 43. Count to 57. Count back from 57 to 43.   

Start at 78 . Count to 93. Count back from 93to 78. 

Play BINGO. Ask someone in your house to write down 8 numbers between eg 20 and 40 but not to show you. You call out any numbers between 20 and 40 and if they have them they can mark them off. Keep going until they have all the numbers and shout BINGO. Swap over and let someone else be the BINGO caller. 

Play the game Think of a Number. You need 2 or more people to play. One person thinks of a number and writes it down but doesn’t show it. The other players guess the number by asking questions. Is it bigger than 40?  Is it less than   70?Is it between      ……and    ……..Take turns to choose the numbers. 

Have a games night: if you have a board game at home play it with some of your family.
