Suggested Activities 22nd-30th June

Hello Everyone!

It’s nearly Summer holidays! We have prepared special messages for you all, have a look at the videos below!

We know it has been a very different, busy, and stressful few months. So parents, thank you so much for engaging with home learning, providing feedback, and working with us as a team to ensure the continued progress of all our girls!

This is our last scheme of work before we go on our summer holidays. But please, continue to engage with past activities, practice reading and numbers at home.

You can also complete any workbooks you collected at the book drop on Thursday.

English – Suggested Summer Activities

  • Re-read all three class readers on ‘Look out!’ ‘The Lost Ball’ and “Spash”. Try to pause at full stops, and use expression when reading.
  • Write a sentence and draw a picture of your favourite memory from Junior Infants. As always, we would love to see your work!
  • Complete any workbooks or sound books, revising letter sounds and names as you do so.
  • Practice singing the alphabet and play games of ‘I Spy’
  • Practice writing simple sentences, shopping lists and your full name. Making sure to you your “Tripod Grip”
  • If you are having trouble with this grip, try to play with lego and playdough to make your finger muscles stronger!
  • Revise singing nursery rhymes learned in school and at home.

Maths – Revision of all number and topics

  • Practise counting from 0-10, forwards and backwards.
  • Practise forming number 1-5
  • Continue to play simple adding and take-away games from 0-5
  • If there have been any topics such as shapes, money or time, please go back and watch our videos and try to complete these activities again. Practise makes perfect!

  • What can you see in the pictures above?
  • What season is it? How do you know?
  • What is your favourite thing about summer?
  • Draw a picture of you in summer. What should be in the picture? What clothes are you wearing? What are you doing?
  • Write a sentence about your picture.

  • Continue to practise using all your new words at home and when talking with your family.
  • Play your matching games to revise all new words learned.
  • Watch our songs, stories and word videos again.
  • Watch Cartoons on TG4 during your screen time.

  • Listen to Ms. Meenagh singing “Hello Friends” in her video.
  • Can you try to sing along?

The most important thing is that we are happy and healthy; do not feel under pressure to continue home learning during the summer holidays. Do what you can, when you can.

We know both children and parents have been working extremely hard and deserve a well earned break!

Thank you again for you’re continued support during these difficult times and we look forward to seeing you all back in school when we are told it is safe to do so.

Le Grá,

Miss Gilroy and Miss Meenagh
